“Our team is comprised of teachers and research students who work in formulation development and analysis. We wanted
to
formulate and evaluate a bilayer tablet of Rosuvastatin for biphasic drug release. We developed a bilayer dosage
form to
accommodate the immediate release dose (initial dose), and the sustained release dose to prolong the drug action for
controlled plasma drug levels throughout the day. Our goal was to compare the drug release from a newly developed
bilayer tablet (biphasic drug release) with a conventional tablet. We wanted to check the drug release patterns from
immediate and sustained release formulations.
“Teledyne Hanson experts helped us in developing and optimizing the method of drug release from a bilayer tablet.
They
were very professional and provided us timely help. They suggested methods for comparative studies using the
Teledyne
Hanson CD14 Comparative Dissolution Tester to evaluate immediate release and sustained release using our developed
bilayer tablets. The suggestions given were very timely, as this was a part of our post graduate student’s project.
The
Teledyne team was prompt enough to assist us in solving any problem in method development.
“The Teledyne Hanson team arranged training for our students and faculty to understand the principles and workings
of
the CD14 apparatus. The training was divided into two parts. First, there was a lecture along with a video
demonstration
of the machine. Then, the team provided demonstration and hands-on training to the post graduate students for
understanding the workings of the CD14. The team was kind enough to highlight the possible analyst errors which can
occur during testing.
“The CD14 Dissolution Tester gives
very accurate results due to automation and reduced human error. It was very
useful
in the development of a sustained release formulation, as a slight change in the formulation resulted in a different
release pattern which was detected accurately by the instrument and hence it assisted in the overall dosage form
development and optimization. This helped in reducing the time for formulation development.
“We would definitely recommend Teledyne Hanson to other companies. We had a very good experience working with them.
Their technical team and subject experts have been very helpful with our projects. The CD14 has excellent
reproducibility and accuracy. Hence, the results can be used in generating data which is acceptable worldwide.”
