The “Build Your Own Phoenix Diffusion Testing System” configurator page is an interactive way to explore the capabilities of Teledyne Hanson’s diffusion-cell-testing platform known as Phoenix Dry Heat Systems.

The online configurator mirrors the information found in the Phoenix Dry Heat Systems Selection Guide, a 16-page brochure that describes the design of the Phoenix platform and provides the information needed to select the right components for your application.

Viewing the Phoenix Dry Heat Systems​ video before using the configurator will be he​lpful. This video is also available on Teledyne Hanson’s YouTube channel.

The configurator will automatically guide you through the steps required to build your own diffusion cell testing system. It will ask you to choose between manual or automated sampling; various cell sizes and mixer-insert combinations to achieve specific receptor media volumes; choices of cell cap kits having different donor chamber volumes and membrane exposed areas (orifice diameters); and so on.

At each step the configurator will display only those components that remain compatible with your previous selections. At any point in the process you can save your configuration (partial or complete) by clicking on the “Save for Later” button at the top of the page; it will ask for your email address. If you later change the configuration or create another one and then save it, only the latest configuration is saved. The saved configuration can be retrieved later by clicking on the “Load Data” button at top right.

The selection/building process is linear and so should be done in the sequence as shown. To move from one step to the next, click on the orange NEXT button at lower center of each page. To move backwards, click on the PREVIOUS button (when available). You can also click on the steps shown on the progress bar at the top of the page (Instruments, Cells, Cap Kit Style, and so on). In this case, however, if you click on a step that is too far ahead, the configurator will ask you to first complete the previous steps.

If you need guidance at any point in the process, please review any reference charts, tables, or drawings on that page for further information on key factors such as receptor media volume, donor chamber volume, orifice diameter, and materials of construction. Reviewing the relevant section of the Selection Guide is also helpful. The last step of the configurator is a Review page where you will have the opportunity to make changes to your system. Note that in some cases when one component is changed, other related components will also need to be changed, and the system will prompt you for this information. Rather than making changes on the Review page, you can also click on the PREVIOUS button, or on the steps in the progress bar at the top, to go backwards to change your configuration.

On the Review page you will also have the option to request a quote, in which case your configuration, whether saved or not, will be emailed to you and to our representative for action and response. You can document numerous configurations in this way, by requesting a quote on each.

Another way to contact us for further information, independent of the configurator, is to click on the orange Request Information button found at the lower right of all pages of the Teledyne Hanson web site. This is a general inquiry form and it will not transmit your configuration.

The Phoenix platform is highly versatile and modular with at least 78 different configurations based on component size and material selections. The system is thereby able to accommodate the testing of a very broad range of semisolid drug formulations with varying release rates while saving money on the total number of components required in the lab.
